The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP) has released a practical guide to promote the reuse of glass partitioning systems in construction. This publication supports circular economy in construction by aiming to extend product lifespans and reduce embodied carbon in materials. It provides actionable steps to minimise waste and promotes environmental sustainability in construction, especially in commercial retrofit projects, which typically hold high embodied carbon footprints.

Tetra Tech will design Oklahoma’s first indirect potable water reuse facility, marking progress in green infrastructure and environmental sustainability. The project supports the circular economy by recycling treated wastewater into potable water, offering a climate-resilient solution in regions affected by drought. Mitsubishi Electric Trane has introduced a new generation of all-electric, all-climate heat pumps using low global warming potential refrigerants. Westinghouse Electric Company, in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan, is pushing forward the eVinci® microreactor. This compact, transportable nuclear technology is designed for off-grid energy supply in locations such as isolated construction sites. It offers sustainable building practices by delivering constant, low-carbon power with minimal environmental impact, showcasing potential for carbon neutral construction in remote settings.

In Brazil’s Cerrado biome, a joint effort between Conservation International and BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group has restored over 10,000 hectares of native landscape. This large-scale ecological project demonstrates life cycle thinking in construction by highlighting the long-term benefits of sourcing renewable building materials like certified timber. Restoration efforts increase carbon sequestration while preserving biodiversity, aligning with goals for sustainable material specification and lifecycle assessment.

Suntory Holdings has launched a dedicated water stewardship company to help organisations manage water usage across supply chains. Digital tools and process innovations guide more efficient water practices in sectors like construction, where water-intensive operations can affect both environmental impact and life cycle cost. This supports resource efficiency in construction and aligns with broader targets for low-impact construction.
